Gediz is a district in southwestern Kütahya, close to Uşak. The Murat Dağı and Ilıca hot springs are its thermal-tourism spots; after a major earthquake on 28 March 1970 that killed more than a thousand people, the district centre was relocated 7 km to the southwest.
