Emet is a district in central Kütahya, holding roughly half of the world's boron reserves. It was declared a thermal-tourism region in 1993; its hot springs, said to help with rheumatism and joint problems, and one of the world's few boric acid factories are here. Fırın kebabı (oven kebab) and güveç are among the local dishes; the Emet river is used for fishing and rafting.
