Late Hittite stelae, the Maraş Lion and the mosaics of Germanicia.
- History
The museum displays finds from the Palaeolithic to the Byzantine period. The Hittite and Late Hittite hall holds the Maraş Lion, statues of deities and funerary stelae with banquet scenes, and the mosaic hall shows Roman floor mosaics from Germanicia. The section with ancient elephant skeletons and the finds from Direkli Cave and Domuztepe Höyük also draw interest. Visiting conditions may have changed since the 2023 earthquakes; check before you go.
