The Malabadi Bridge stands over the Batman River near Malabadi village, part of Silvan district. Construction began in 1146-47 under the Artuqid ruler Timurtash and was completed under his successor Najm al-Din Alpi. The bridge is 150 metres long and 7 metres wide, and its main arch, with a span of 38.6 metres, was one of the largest arches of its time; small rooms beside the arch were used by travellers. The bridge remained in use until a new road bridge was built in the 1950s, and it was added to the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List in 2016.
