Sabancı Central Mosque opened in 1998 and was built in classical Ottoman mosque style, likened in overall appearance to the Sultan Ahmed Mosque and, in plan and interior, to the Selimiye Mosque. Its six 99-metre minarets and 32-metre main dome allow thousands to pray at once. It was built with public donations and contributions from the Sabancı family.
