Saimbeyli is a district in the mountainous part of the Taurus range, 157 km from central Adana. Formerly called Haçin, it was renamed in 1922 in honour of Captain Doğan and district governor Saim Bey, who liberated the area from French occupation during the War of Independence. The Göksu stream runs through mountains covered in fir, pine and cedar forest.
