Erciş

Erciş, on the northern shore of Lake Van, is one of its more populous districts. Erciş Castle, built by the lake shore in the Urartian period and repaired under the Ottomans, was abandoned in 1841 as the lake's water level rose; depending on later changes in that level, its remains have reappeared above the surface from time to time. Çelebibağı Nature Park is the district's green space.
