Rákóczi Museum
The house where the Hungarian leader Francis II Rákóczi spent his years of exile.

Francis II Rákóczi, leader of Hungary's struggle for independence, took refuge in the Ottoman Empire and settled in Tekirdağ in 1720, living in this house until his death in 1735. In the early 1930s the Hungarian government restored the house faithfully and turned it into a museum, and it reopened in 1982 after a later restoration. Belongings of Rákóczi and his circle and documents from the period are on display, and the house is seen as a symbol of Turkish-Hungarian friendship.
