Dikmen, Sinop's least populated district, was a town attached to Gerze until 1990. Skiing takes place at Göktepe and Soğuk Tepesi, and highland tourism is notable at the Domuzalan and Ayvalan plateaus; factories at Güzelceçay supply about 35% of Türkiye's fish meal and oil production.
