Ceylanpınar is a large district on the Syrian border, named after the gazelles that once lived in the area. Turkey's largest state farm, the TİGEM Ceylanpınar agricultural enterprise, is based here and keeps around 1,500 gazelles. On 30 July 2000 the district recorded 48.2°C, one of Turkey's highest ever temperatures.
