Harun Reşit Castle (Haruniye Castle), in Kurtlar village of Düziçi district, stands at a strategic point on the Dumanlı plateau. It was built in 785 CE by the Abbasid Caliph Harun al-Rashid, and over the following centuries passed between several powers, including the Byzantines, the Armenian Kingdom of Cilicia, the Mamluks and the Ottomans, each repairing it in turn. In the mid-14th century it was made the administrative centre of eastern Cilicia by the Egyptians. Visiting conditions may have changed since the 2023 earthquakes; check before you go.
