Built for Sungur Bey, the Ilkhanid-era governor of Niğde, the mosque was completed in 1335 according to a tax inscription on its minaret base. Its monumental double-minaret portal on the east facade and the tomb attached to its south side make it a notable example of Ilkhanid-period architecture.
