Korkut

Korkut, on the Muş Plain, is surrounded by the districts of Hasköy, Bulanık, Muş centre and Ahlat. Formerly known as Til (mound), the settlement was under Urartian rule in the 9th century BC and later under Armenian dynasties such as the Mamikonyans and Bagratunis. It took the name Korkut in 1964 and gained district status in 1990. Local folk dances such as Aşırma, Koçeri, Botani and Gerandi are known here.
