Toroslar, named after the Taurus Mountains, is one of Mersin's central metropolitan districts, in the northeast of the city, and the largest of them by area. The city's intercity bus terminal is located here, and the Yumuktepe mound, with layers going back to the Chalcolithic period, lies within the district.
