The Silahtar Mustafa Paşa Caravanserai in Battalgazi's Alacakapı neighbourhood was built in 1637 by Bosnalı Mustafa Paşa, the silahtar (sword-bearer) of Murad IV. Set on a 68-by-76-metre rectangular plot, it has an open courtyard and vaulted enclosed sections; its architect was Üstat Ebubekir, son of Üstat Mehmet, chief architect of Aleppo. Standing on the trade route heading east, it reflects the city's commercial importance, and it was restored between 2007 and 2010.
