Manazan Caves

At the town of Taşkale, north of the Yeşildere Valley, the Manazan Caves are a five-storey dwelling carved entirely by hand into a single rock mass. The lower floors are made up of cell-like rooms, while the upper floors have wide galleries reached by narrow corridors and shafts. Burial chambers and two chapels found on the first two floors point to the site's use in the Byzantine period.
