Küçükçekmece, on İstanbul's European side, is bordered by Avcılar, Başakşehir, Bahçelievler, Bağcılar and Bakırköy, with a Marmara Sea coastline to the south. The lagoon-type Lake Küçükçekmece, connected to the sea by a narrow channel, along with the 4th-century Menekşe stream bridge and the 17th-century Küçükçekmece bridge, are among the district's notable sites.
