A historic castle of inner and outer sections on the rock above the district centre.

Built on Hacıkayası, the rock enclosing the south of the Şebinkarahisar district centre, the castle has inner and outer sections; although it is not known who first built it, it was used in the Persian, Pontic and Roman periods and repaired by the Roman commander Pompey. It passed into Turkish hands in 1074 with its conquest by the Danishmendid and Mengujekid principalities.
