Keşap is a coastal district 10 km from Giresun; Çepni Turkmens settled here in 1397, and it was incorporated into Ottoman territory under Fatih Sultan Mehmet in 1461. The Byzantine-era churches in Armutdüzü village and the Şahinkaya rock formations are its highlights.
