Espiye is a coastal district east of Giresun; it became a district in 1957 after separating from a sub-district attached to Tirebolu. Andoz Castle, built by Genoese traders and overlooking the Silk Road harbour of Zefre, is the district's best-known historic structure; a culture, tourism and pide festival is held every year.
