The Gaziantep Archaeology Museum, whose collection dates back to 1969, was reorganised with a modern display approach and reopened in 2017 after the Zeugma mosaics were moved to the Zeugma Mosaic Museum in 2011. Its exhibits take visitors on a chronological journey from geological-era fossils and Lower Palaeolithic tools and workshops, through the skeleton of the extinct Maraş elephant, to the Republican era.
