Ahlat Museum first opened in 1971 and reopened in its present, purpose-built building in 2018. It has four sections - Archaeology, Urban Memory, Foyer and Garden; the archaeology hall displays artefacts spanning from the Chalcolithic period through the Urartian, Seljuk and Ottoman eras. The Urban Memory Hall has information panels on the states that ruled Ahlat and on the Battle of Manzikert, along with a wax figure of Sultan Alparslan.
