Demirözü, south of Bayburt, was formerly called Kısanta; it was attached to Gümüşhane in 1987 and then to the newly formed province of Bayburt in 1989. Boat tours run around the Demirözü Dam, and Yakup Abdal Nature Park and Ferahşad Bey Mosque are other sights in the district.
