Daskyleion Ancient City
An ancient city near the Bird Paradise wetlands, with remains from the Lydian and Persian periods.

Named after the Lydian king Daskylos, who settled here in the 7th century BC, Daskyleion lies close to the Bird Paradise wetlands. Excavations have uncovered Phrygian and Lydian walls, a processional road thought to date to the Achaemenid period, a three-room building with an administrative or religious function, and a Lydian-period kitchen. Finds from the site are displayed at the Bandırma Museum.
